Independence Gun Club has grown exponentially from it's original blueprint of monthly get-togethers at the indoor/outdoor range located at the Independence, KS Municipal Airport. It has grown to involve & care for all corners of the community.
Independence Gun Club's main objective when acquiring 212 N. Pennsylvania Ave. was to build an indoor gun range when the one by the Independence Municipal Airport was shut down due to progress. But suddenly Craig Boddington appeared...
Hunter- Journalist- Adventurer
Craig Boddington is a world-class award winning wildlife hunter, who has roots in Elk City, KS. He donated his large collection of taxidermy animals, some award winning, from all around the globe to IGC. This changed our course of direction. We prioritized showing his world class collection, in a museum like way on our first floor- which turned into an event center & educational classroom for people of all ages.
Craig’s generous donation has reshaped our future.
Thanks to his support, our facility now offers a dynamic, two-story experience:
Our main level is now a multipurpose space—perfect for taxidermy and gun museum tours, field trips, community events, and even private rentals for personal occasions.
Upstairs has been dedicated to education and enrichment, featuring fire safety training courses, expanded museum-style exhibits, and hands-on displays with pelts and taxidermy.
We’re proud to grow into a space that celebrates both heritage and community engagement—and it wouldn’t have been possible without Craig’s support.
Although the timeline has shifted, IGC remains fully committed to our original vision.
We are currently in Stage 4 of renovations at our facility, steadily progressing toward our long-term goal of establishing an indoor gun range on the third floor—a project we anticipate completing in the coming years.
Right now, our focus is on ADA accessibility, with plans underway to install an elevator that will ensure all visitors can safely and comfortably access every level of our building.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to create a space that serves and includes the entire community.
